Well, _this_ is fascinating.
I downloaded and built gimp from source:
sudo apt install dpkg-dev devscripts
cd /tmp
sudo apt source gimp
sudo apt build-dep gimp
cd gimp-2.10.34
sudo debuild
Then I modified app/gimp-2.10 to use "exec gdb" instead of "exec" to run
gimp.
Then I made sure gdb would
I ran gimp under gdb and got the more useful stack trace below, though
there still isn't enough info to figure out what's going on.
