In Hardy Heron (8.04) alpha;

If high resolution images are viewed with thumbnails, and the zoom
increased from 100%, the thumbnails are generated for those images, as
expected.

However, these thumbnails are NOT cached and navigation to that folder
causes them to be regenerated each time. As you might imagine, this
causes the system load to increase whenever those folders are opened,
especially if there are a great deal of pictures in those folders.

This seems to be a problem with all image types.

(I do not know about .CR2 or RAW files, as I do not have a plugin for
viewing them)
