I know this isn't exactly what the topic was about, but can Nautilus at least have a feature where a folder can be opened by dragging a file onto the folder and holding it there for a moment or two? KDE 3 already has this feature, so I don't see any patent problems at first glance. -- Nautilus

you should search for other patents around the topic, but as written before that's the wrong place for a such discussion and if upstream doesn't feel comfortable doing that due to patents they likely have a reason -- Nautilus Drag and Drop Improvement https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203938 You

Thank you Sebastien, I've been reading in the upstream bug and it seems that this thing has been discussed for a while, but I don't see any clear conclusion. First of all reading the patent 6061061 below, I don't thing that we would be using any temporary window so this patent shouldn't apply,

2008-03-22 Thread arnau
I checked both patents 6,061,061 and 5,583,984 and in both cases the description is the same. In the abstract of both patents they always remark about opening TEMPORARY Windows. That's not our case from my point of view. We could just left open all our windows, so they wouldn't be temporal. In
