Public bug reported: Maybe this also a feature request, but the current behavior is definitely not useful:
Current behavior: * use a laptop (with lid switch) * click Power Off in the Power Off/Log Out menu. * the 60 second counter starts * close the lid immediately * wait a few minutes * open the list * be greeted with the shutting down countdown (!) Expected behavior: * after clicking shutdown, the laptop either shuts down after 60 seconds or I cancel. A shutdown should not be interruptible by anything short of a dead battery. Maybe shutdown instantly when closing the lid (or do that in general? It's not like you get a "These apps would like to prevent the shutdown" dialog.)
