Now running Metacity 2.23.55 in Intrepid.
If using AWN, the AWN bar would actually disappear until Gnome-Do
'settled'. This no longer happens, but Gnome-Do still requires some
coaxing to appear the first time or two.

The problem is not fixed in metacity 2.23.21 from intrepid. My
mouse_button_modifier is Alt.

I had the same problem but managed to work around it by changing the
mouse_button_modifier in metacity (inside the configuration editor) from
Super to Alt.
Perhaps this happens because Gnome-Do has the keybindings of
Super+Space, and metacity doesn't like it.

Thomas, I see; my point is that the bug tracker should not be used for
anything not pertaining to triaging and resolving bugs. Every off-topic
comment produces superfluous bug mail and can annoy subscribers. Since
this bug is in Ubuntu, the support request could be taken to the Ubuntu

@Thomas_Thurman: Can you instruct me how to install metacity 2.23.21
that you referred to? Many thanks.

@phenest: A number of odd compositing bugs were fixed in trunk upstream
recently. If you can reproduce the problem reliably with the version in
Hardy, is it possible you can install the most recent upstream version
(2.23.21) and see whether that fixes the problem?

Thanks for reporting. I'm unable to reproduce this. What's your video
hardware and driver?
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=506420 could be related. Are
you using AWN as well?

Gnome Do has visual problems when run
Sorry. One thing I forgot to mention. This only happens if I'm running
Avant-Window-Navigator. If I kill AWN, Gnome Do works perfectly. If I
run Compiz instead of Metacity, then Gnome Do works fine with AWN. But
Gnome Do exhibits this odd behaviour if I'm running Metacity and AWN.

In this case it's the same bug. Adding upstream bug watch.
