I also have verified this update, on a Surface Pro 5.
I hadn't noticed originally, but this also fixes scrolling vertically,
which previously would be interrupted by the context menu in the same
way.

0. Install ubuntu 24.04.1 and boot into wayland session
1. enable developer options
2. $ sudo apt install -t noble-proposed nautilus
3. $ sudo reboot
4. open file manager
5. start rectangle selection
6. can do the rectangle selection successfully.
