This is fixed in Ubuntu 25.04. I believe with the changes from gnome- terminal 3.54.2-2. We also are removing the gnome-terminal.real alternative. Changing the behavior of gnome-terminal in a stable Ubuntu release seems risky so this is unlikely to be fixed in earlier Ubuntu releases. Ubuntu 25.0
