I have this problem in my Compaq Presario C708LA with Ubuntu Hardy.
Additional Information:
gconftool -a /apps/gnome-power-manager/backlight
idle_dim_battery = true
idle_brightness = 30
dpms_method_battery = default
dpms_method_ac = default
idle_dim_time = 30
brightness_battery = 70
I confirm I have the same problem:
- Fn keys do change the brightness and a OSD with the new brightness is
correctly displayed, but the slider in the gnome applet does not update
accordingly
Moreover g-p-m ignores the gconf settings /apps/gnome-power-
manager/backlight
