For me, this problem occurs in firefox and epiphany. I'm running the
amd64 distribution on my intel core2duo. I installed epiphany after
firefox did this reliably 8 times in a row. After I figured out that

For some reason I was not able to obtain a backtrace. Every time I
attempted to attach gdb to Xorg it froze. I finally resorted to
installing the Nvidia Beta driver 173.08 and I was not able to reproduce
this crash. So I don't think this bug is in Epiphany.

I don't think so. Epiphany is not the only thing crashing. It causes the
entire Xserver to crash.

I can not reproduce this on Hardy amd64 2.6.24-15-generic. NVIDIA
169.12+2.6.24.12-15.33 from the repositories.

I installed the same version and did not experience a crash.
Can you please check out the instructions at the link below and try to provide
debugging information? A crash is nearly impossible to fix unless the
developers have some information on what caused it.
