Public bug reported: I did a dist-upgrade of my Hoary install to Breezy the other day. One of the more major problems I experienced was that many icons were missing, from folders, "show desktop", "trash", etc, the desktop was rather ugly.
After an hour of trying to find out where the icons were stored, and playing around trying to fix this, I finally fixed it by going to System->Preferences->Theme and changing it from "Custom" to any other preset theme. In Hoary, I did not change much for my theme, I just changed it to the ClearLook theme and then changed the blue to a less bright colour.
