The bug has been fixed upstream in gst-plugins-base
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=537889) and Totem
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=545566).
It's now just a matter of waiting for new releases and then for the
packages to land in Ubuntu.

I'm seeing the same problem. It's only gone to black and white twice
now (in 3 months or so), and adjusting color balance under edit -
preferences - display, but I'm not sure what causes it.
If you hit "reset to defaults" you get some very very wrong colors. I
think it might be gstreamer and not

Get a grip. I would like to watch movies in color, but something unknown to me
changes it to Black and White.

Actually I cannot mark some special steps or actions, All what I have -
the first three options are changing togeter (to left side), last one -
to right. It has wrong default setting also. I mean default value is ok
- but "normal" setting - is most right position.
