Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution
While this may sound like nit-picking, it's actually a show-stopper here. Evolution (2.22.1-0ubuntu3) computes the Thread-index header field differently than MS Outlook (2000, 2003). A consequence of this is that whenever I reply to an e-mail thread started by someone with an Outlook MUA, Outlook users see two different threads (with the same subject), even though it looks like one thread to Evolution. One could argue that Evolution handles the situation superior to Outlook, but since here at work all but me are using Windows for e-mail, I must now too. One could summarize the bug as "Evolution disrupts the work flow". I'm not aware of any standard on how to compute the Thread-Index and [1] indicates no such exists, but in any case Evolution ought to provide at least the option to compute it like Outlook does, so that it can be integrated in a (not so) heterogenous network environment. As an example Outlook might have computed the Thread-index to be "Thread-Index: Acir1m5vFOd2X2FITTO4tAL8Q4vUlQAAB+bwAAAuzLAAADUp4AAA4rrQAADw0zA=" A reply from this Evolution MUA then contains the thread index: "Thread-Index: Acir4W6w/xrT/4O1Tz2ARlP2nu2iRA==" [1] http://www.ceas.cc/2006/presentations/Email%20Enhancement/jyyeh.ppt ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Evolution computes Thread-index differently than MS Outlook https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/225964 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
