Public bug reported: I've run a 'gcalctool' on my cleanly-installed ubuntu 8.04 system.
$ cat /proc/13396/status | grep Vm VmPeak: 44756 kB VmSize: 44752 kB VmLck: 0 kB VmHWM: 16856 kB VmRSS: 16856 kB VmData: 7732 kB <--- this one VmStk: 812 kB VmExe: 152 kB VmLib: 14192 kB VmPTE: 56 kB (Yes - I've also looked into /proc/[0-9]*/maps) So a simple 'gcalctool' uses over seven megabytes of RAM, when it shouldn't be using more than, let's say, one megabyte. Can anyone explain me why a simple GNOME application has an overhead of six megabytes? Is there already a project working on reducing these outstanding memory requirements? Should I start investigating? ** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Outstanding memory requirements for simple application 'gcalctool' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238159 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to meta-gnome2 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
