I'm just trying to install automatic updates. I get this error in a
window and it won't close. It just hangs and I'm not sure what process
it is to kill it. Any suggestions?

What were you trying to do?
Can you make it do that again (after you've cleared the immediate
problem, by running sudo dpkg --configure -a)?

Thanks for your bug report. Fortunately, this is not a bug, and can be solved
by simply running:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
