Yes. Once I changed the audio settings as described above it seemed to
have solved the problem.
Like I said though, I wonder what changed it to NOT working in the first
place, since I clearly remember not too long after installing ubuntu it
worked for me, then it stopped for some bizarre reason, a

I've had a similar problem, and it turned out somehow the sound settings
weren't correct. I can't remember exactly how they were set
unfortunately, but I went to System->Preferences->Sound and changed
everything to ALSA. Seemed to have done the trick in rhythmbox. The
funny thing is I remember rhyt

Opened rhythmbox. chose a song. had to force quit.

I experience say bug. It doesn't matter what kind of music you play -
mp3, cd, network, radio. The play button is pressed, there is a play
icon next to the song, the song name comes up but it sits at 0:00 min.
You can operate inside the application but if you try to close it it
will die and you hav
Will not play a simple music cd, mp3. Insert cd in ubuntu new install
rhythmbox music player comes up by default and just sits there. Press
play and the play button depresses but no movement on slider yet the
cddb entrys were correct. Defective software.
