Just Upgraded from Gutsy to Intrepid and finally to JJ. This is still
happening on JJ 9.04. Will anyone ever take a look at this bug??
The search domains are received via MS DHCP.

I think this might be addressed with a patch to /sbin/dhclient-script
(provided by dhcp3-client) to remove the commas.
Not sure whether http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3397.txt is relevant or not

Sorry, but I don't think the report was filed against the right package.
Sadly, you chose the gnome-system-tools, which were not maintained since
then. We should find the real culprit of the bug.
If I understand correctly the description, every reboot breaks
/etc/resolv.conf? So actually network-a
I checked what exactly is breaking things:
I'm not using the network manager, so I disconnected with ifdown; after ifup,
my search domain list contained comma's again.
So it is not just rebooting but every reconnection that is breaking things.

If you configure your DHCP to deliver multiple search domains (option 15
on MS DHCP), then, after each ifdown-ifup/reboot/disconnect-reconnect
using nm, you get the commas between the search domains on
/etc/resolv.conf. I have 3 ubuntu 9.10 at home and 1 9.10 at work; all
show the same behavior.

Thanks. So that's a bug with dhclient, I hope somebody more aware of its
behavior will be able to help.
