Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I'm glad to hear that you could resolve your problems. As
it seems this problem was not caused by the gimp package but by a script
you have installed in your home directory, ~/.gimp-2.6/scripts/ is empty
on my machi
As per Murphy's (or whoever) Law, after filing the bug I've found the
solution/work-around.
I went into the Gimp preferences and added ~/.fonts to the fontpath.
After that Gimp seemed to function normally, though I haven't tested
everything.
The question remains, however, as to why it wouldn't wo
