The 3000 series don't have smart batteries, they just have buggy DSDTs.
Regardless, this should be fixed in the next kernel release. I'm closing
this since the original bug (smart batteries are unsupported) is fixed.

Does not work on my Acer Travelmate 3000 (3004WTMi). I updated Dapper
today and have kernel 2.6.15-15-386, hal 0.5.6-1ubuntu3 and gnome-
applets 2.13.30ubuntu. Happy to hear that there is progress for some
models.

This should be fixed in HAL, not in gnome-applets. Support in HAL will
