It isn't an issue in jaunty. I have my Appearance Prefences->Visual
Effects set as "none".

Yes, this is reproducible. When I start the program and try to drag a
block I see the problem. It is not puzzle dependent.
More explicitily:
1) start program
2) left click on a block
3) holding down mouse button, while dragging the block to a valid position
4) release the mouse button
5) look at
