As for me: I have a server using ISO-8859-2 (Latin 2) encoding. With both Nautilus and gvfs-ls I get ugly ? marks instead of the characters above #127. Ssh works well -- if I choose proper encoding in terminal preferences. I do not expect of Nautilus to be clever enough to guess the encoding to
