Public bug reported: This report comes from the discussion at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/326582, in particular from the Sebastien Bacher post:
>that's a good point and maybe that should not be an option, feel free to open a bug to discuss that if you want Here I list the options in nautilus preferences panels that normal users cannot understand and consequently should be removed: "Executable text files" should be removed entirely, normal users don't even know what an executable text file is. In "Icon Captions" the options "Type", "Owner", "Group", "Permissions", "Octal permissions", "MIME Type" and "SELinux Context" should be removed. The same goes for "List Columns". Actually the simplification process should be done for the whole Gnome at large, by removing most of the menu items under "System/Administration" and most menu items under "System/Preferences". We should also remove some menus from "Applications" as well, such as "Software development" or whatever's called "Sviluppo" in english, and maybe also "Universal access", since "normal" users don't need it *. I hope the maintainers can forward this bug upstream, because, as I understand it from the linked bug above, this should be a bug Gnome maintainers agree on. Thanks in advance, Lucio. *) The last is obviously a joke, the rest is a serious request.
