This is caused by running out of video memory. There is probably a bug
like this already filed, but I can't find one.

I just realized it works in small size, but crashes if I resize the
window larger. If I close or shrink other windows, I can resize it
bigger before it crashes. So it's probably related to a lack of video
card memory.
