It's the former: I click in the "accelerator" filed, then it reads "type
a new accelerator", then I hit for example contrl + F6, and nothing
happens, it doesn't react in anyway, as if I hadn't pressed any key at
all.

When you say it doesn't work, is the shortcut not listed by the field
after pressing it or it is listed but doesn't do the action when using
gedit?

Hi,
Okay, I just installed and tried the snipped plug-in... it's even worse !
That is, I tried all the combinations from Control + F1 through to Control +
F12, and NONE of them work.
I tried Control + and it works fin

Could you try with the Snippets plugin to see wheter it is also affected
or not ? (I think both plugins share the same code but I'm not sure)

Update: It's not all that broken it seems. Not all accelerators don't
work, only some of them. Of course at first I precisely happened to want
the ones that didn't work, hence I assumed none of them worked... but
it's not
