Installed the debug packages and reran python-dbg /usr/bin/gnome-about
--gnome-version.

reassign back to gnome-about. as this is seen with 2.5 as well, it
doesn't seem to be specific to the python version. it is more likely a
reference counting bug within one of the extensions that gnome-about
uses. Please re-run with the python-dbg interpreter.
