I found that if I re-installed fetchmail, the problem goes away.

I have the same problem. Also cannot expunge messages from the Inbox.
But I don't know how to fix it at all. And, I do not think that I'm using
fetchmail. Not to my knowledge.
I am also using Thunderbird.

I found that by reinstalling fetchmail the problem appears to be
