I can connect to SMB shares on other computers by using smbclient or by

Do you get something like a "smb:/// not supported" message? If so, you
should install gnome-vfs-extras.

nautilus for a small while but they dissapeared again. I also disabled
my firewall

Jaap, I've had several issues like this before and usually it's because
I miss a configuration setting on the SAMBA server. First, would you
care to try disabling the firewall on the server if one is running?
