Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Low bitrate mp3 files (I have come accross to 16kbit) are not played
clearly (they are played with gaps - sound gap sound gap ...) via
rhytmbox and/or totem player in (almost) fresh installation of Intrepid
Ibex (Ubuntu 8.10). It is on both 32 and amd64 versions. I have the same
problem on 3 different computers (2 AMDs (32 and 64 bit) and 1 Intel CPU
(64 bit)). The files are played without any problems via mplayer, or
command line mpg123 (from mpg321 package) and probably with some others
players. Playing higher bitrate mp3 files (I know about 128 kbit and
higher) in rhythmbox/totem are without problems.

In Ubuntu 8.04 there was no problem with such files. They could be
played without any problem.

(Reported example is 10s cut from SecurityNow! ep. no. 179.)
