I get the same problem. I have the Medibuntu repository added and I have all
the gstreamer plugins loaded.

I went for a normal Ubuntu installation with Totem as the default Movie Player,
added a few Gstreamer plug-ins via 'Add/Remove'
but I still cannot play my DVDs anymore. All this used to work under Feisty.
