Dear Pedro Villavicencio, there were no updates whatsoever for me in the
last days, not even for the gnome-media package, the one that contains
gstreamer-properties.
Is there a special repository I should enable in order to receive this
update?

paulocic confirmed the problem on Maverick 2 days ago.
I also reproduced it on a Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) virtual machine.

This affects me in Maverick. I suspect that other programs using
gstreamer video input may also trigger this loss of configuration (a
custom-built ekiga).

I see the same behavior on lucid (final release). This is very annoying because
gstreamer-properties is the only place where one can adjust the audio/video
settings for the webcam feature of pidgin.

choose a custom default video plugin in multimedia settings
(gstreamer-properties), put something like:
v4l2src device="/dev/video0" ! ffmpegcolorspace ! streaktv
into the pipeline box.
Click the Close button. Open that dialog again. The previous default plugin is
choosen.

I can confirm this bug in Karmic. The custom gstreamer properties are
ignored. Falls back to default device.
