the issue is easily triggered:
1. open nautilus (by personal default in list view, see attachment)
2. hit any "letter" key (or alternatively click on any list entry and then hit
any "letter" key)
3. nothing happens (especially no focus on the entry beginning with the letter
hit)

Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
