Sebastien, I do not think that this is a duplicate.
bug #36497 has been fixed on the 28th of March, this bug still exists although
the updated metacity package is installed. Furthermore metacity does not crash
using the procedure mentioned above.
Wahoo! I figured out how to upstream it for ya, seb128. It looks like this
bug correctly shows it as upstream #336651 that I filed. :-)
