ok, the problem is back again and I've no idea what's triggered it. I tried replacing totem-gstreamer with totem-xine and the problem still exists... There's no problem with the mozilla plugin or other media players (gxine, wxvlc, mplayer), so I'm guessing the problem lies somewhere in Totem?

In addition, mouse keys still work, it just seems to be the mouse device that's disabled - This is a standard ps/2 mouse - in xorg.conf, the device node is set as /dev/input/mice. If I cat the device, totem actually seems to stop the device working completely - It stops receiving input as soon
