http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347792 indicates that's not a
totem bug but rather an lirc one, closing since that works correctly now

I also suffer from the same problem (see #112490).
The problem renders the system unusable for unexperienced users (mouse does not
work, you have to kill the app using ALT-F4).
I would move the importance to a Higher value.

Stopping the lirc service resolves the problem as well.

This started to affect my USB mouse recently, so on a hunch I decided to
recompile totem without lirc support - This seems to have solved the
problem for me completely.

ok, the problem is back again and I've no idea what's triggered it. I tried
replacing totem-gstreamer with totem-xine and the problem still exists...
There's no problem with the mozilla plugin or other media players (gxine,
wxvlc, mplayer), so I'm guessing the problem lies somewhere in Totem?
No problem, I'm rejecting the bug for now. Feel free to reopen if that happens
again

do you use totem-gstreamer or totem-xine? Does changing the videosink make a
difference?

I'm afraid, as mysteriously as it started, it also seems to have stopped...
Sorry to have wasted time. If it reoccurs (it was happening yesterday, but is
fine today), I'll see if I can narrow it down some more.

In addition, mouse keys still work, it just seems to be the mouse device that's
disabled - This is a standard ps/2 mouse - in xorg.conf, the device node is set
as /dev/input/mice.
If I cat the device, totem actually seems to stop the device working completely
- It stops receiving input as soon
Thanks for your bug report. Which version of Ubuntu and totem do you use? Can
you tun totem from a command line and paste the output here (if there's
anything interesting)?

This is Ubuntu dapper, updated earlier today - Totem 1.4.0. Console output:
** (totem:29407): WARNING **: Trying to connect to an older version of the
GNOME screensaver
** Message: Couldn't read lirc config.
This error didn't used to happen, I've no idea what could've triggered it
