To sum up, I am using "noapic irqpoll" as my default boot options. Works: CDROM, network, battery meter, cpu scaling. Broken: sound, suspend-to-RAM, external display. I have not tried "dist-upgrade" with the installation I am using now, because that's what broke it last time. I have testing
