My nick cannot be updated. I did the things that you say, but the problem is
still there.
For example, with Kopete (KDE instant messenger program) I haven't the nick
problem: I can update my nick, and my contacts haven't problems with it.

I think this is a real bug (no user-problem). The image that I uploaded explain
the problem.

you are changing the alias, which is local only, instead of changing the
friendly name, which other people can see. Change the friendly name from the
account actions submenu.
