Okay, I used an editor to just copy the new ui bits into the old
gnome-cups-ui-connection.glade file. I probably should have done that in the
first place. Anyhow, this actually made the patch a little smaller.
The IPP/SMB switch problem is gone, and the dialog box now has the same width
as the

glade. Sorry about that. Thanks for finding it! Easy to fix. I probably should
just use Emacs and forget about glade ;-).
And I'll have another look at the layout. I didn't notice that the screen was
wider than before, b

- select network printer, the dialogues for ipp and smb are switched.
- the entry screen is unusually wide.

Yes, I hold the copyright to the patch.
As far as I am concerned, my code is GPL-ed. I just wasn't sure where to stick
a copyright notice, since I only added something to pre-existing files. Should
I include a copyright notice somewhere somehow?

My bad. Some googling showed that I can get the serial backend in cupsys if I
configure the package correctly. However, in a way this makes the problem in
gnome-cups-add even more serious.
