The same thing happened again. I cannot select multiple items using
ctrl+click. Only place it works is the desktop where I can select
items using ctrl+click. But if I open any file browse it wont work, but
the Shift + click works as expected. I am using Ubuntu 8.10

I have to admit that after restart this issue described above is gone.
Propably the problem was with nautilus that was updated but I usually don't
restart gnome-session after upgrade - and I also don't restart my machine (I
usually restart X ~3-4 days - and machine only when I really have to).
The issue with your description is that "unexpected behaviour" "strange
behaviour" are not describing anything. It's easier to understand few steps
described:
"- press ctrl
- click on 1 then 2 then 3 then 1 then 2 then 3 then 1
...
when clicking on 1 everything is unselected, only 1 should be cha
