Public bug reported: Binary package hint: seahorse
Trying to generate an "RSA (sign only)" key with Seahorse actually generates a single RSA key with key flags that say it's used for everything, including encryption and authentication. This happens in Hardy, Intrepid, Jaunty, and Karmic. Steps to reproduce: 1. In Seahorse, create a new PGP key. Under Advanced Key Options choose "RSA (sign only)" before creating the key. 2. In a terminal, enter `gpg --edit-key 01234567` (where 01234567 is the keyid of the generated key) Result: gpg shows something like this: pub 4096R/01234567 created: 2009-09-19 expires: never usage: SCEA trust: ultimate validity: ultimate Expected result: Under "usage:", the key should show just the signing/certifying flags. That's what happens when you generate a signing key using the command-line. pub 4096R/01234567 created: 2009-09-19 expires: never usage: SC trust: ultimate validity: ultimate ** Affects: seahorse Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: seahorse (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Seahorse generates RSA 'sign only' keys that aren't sign-only https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/433219 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to seahorse in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
