Is there a method to fix this manually? I seem to be able to find
excuses as to why this is happening, but not methods to fix it.

Actually this a pretty ugly bug. My system halted with no icons left on
my desktop. And my steam client keeps telling me that there is not space
left to install the update, even this is actually not the case.
The home folder should be calculated by half because my user has
ecryptfs files and
What is keeping us from fixing this? Coming here from Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
in 2018...

I can confirm this issue, but only when you scan `/`.
When you scan `/home/user/` it works as one would expect.
It's hard to tell if this is working as intended since the
`/home/user/` option works, and the `/` scans as if the home folder
weren't mounted with encryptfs.
While it may confuse
