Same here, installed 9.10 server with whole disk encryption (except
255MB /boot), then apt-get install ubuntu-desktop and now I see 250GB

I did the default full disk encryption when I installed Ubuntu 9.10
amd64. It's annoying to have the physical volume listed in the Nautilus
list of Places. Ubuntu 9.04 did not have this problem.
