Although this pertains to gnnome-power, I fixed wake-after-sleep issue
by changing my display driver for AMD A8-GPU from recommended selection
xserver-xorg-video-ati to fglrx. In one of the forums someone
suggested to look up log and look for fail. I found it in KSystemLog's
X-org log, a fail
