This bug is also currently affecting 10.04 Lucid Lynx. I've seen numerous accounts of this issue all over the Ubuntu forums and here in launchpad. In my case, it appears to be due to my mixer having an LFE in the wrong order. Is there no way we can have Ubuntu autodetect this and set the correct

Is it possible that the fact I had my volume hotkeys bound to both the LFE channel and the PCM channels would impact this? I noticed that in Karmic that I have no way of changing this setting, but perhaps it's still stuck in a configuration file somewhere? Where would I go to clear this? -- Vol

Also, when I open up alsamixer, if I press the volume "up" key, it peggs the LFE and PCM volumes to the top before gradually increasing the master channel... This probably isn't the best way of aggregating the three controls together and is more than likely what is causing my sound to cut out befo
