I was unable to reproduce this issue after a fresh upgrade to Maverick.
Most likely, the issues has been fixes with the major changes that have
been made around g-p-m / upower.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Power Manager is available on
Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with
