Please close this bug. The problem was an old file I had added to
/etc/X11/Xsession.d to start syndaemon from before Ubuntu handled this.

This bug is making my system somewhat unusable, as the feature
(disabling trackpad while typing) has a rather naive (broken)
implementation. I cannot click on anything while holding down a
modifier key (shift, control, etc.)
