I did not suggest that Nautilus developers should construct arguments
to defend every feature. I said that they should defend /this
feature/, as it has been called into question.

Thank you for your argument! I've passed it upstream.
However, I don't agree that Nautilus should have to defend any feature
and function it has. It makes no sense and would only require more work
from the developers since they'd have to spend a lot of time defending
decisions made a long time ago
I will reply on the reporter's behalf.
The assumption should be that the user usually does not intend to
interact with unfocused windows. I'd guess that more often than not,
placing the cursor over an audio file in an unfocused window is not a
good indication that the user has chosen to preview th
It has been a long while since this bug has been reported and since then
the reporter hasn't replied. Upstream has already closed the bug due to
a lack of rationale and the lack of response. I'm also closing this bug
because of the inactivity of the reporter.
