Marking papercut as fixed as well , since the difference between the 64
and 48px is just 8px on either side , which does not cause a problem of
icons moving on loading images as previously. And increasing the general
icon layout is not a simple task , it needs more changes to the layout
in nautilus

I wouldn't regard this bug as fixed until both sizes are equal.

This was changed after being discussed during the Nautilus UI meetings.
Anything smaller makes it really tough to actually see the content of the
thumbnail itself.
However, there is also a proposal
In the upstream report A. Walton said: "The default is a more reasonable

This issue is most certainly a valid papercut and considering the high-
profile of this bug, aesthetics and the very valid points made in
comment 7 I'm setting the status of this bug to 'Medium'.

This can be very annoying when the user wants to select some files,
since the icons are somehow "moving down".
IHMO, it is a real user-interaction bug :

Isn't this by design? Thumbnails *should* be bigger than icons.
They're thumbnails.
If a row consists only of icons, it's narrower, so that screen real
estate isn't wasted with giant icons when small icons are equally
legible. I believe Windows 7 does the same thing, and it should be left
as is.
is it a simple task to be considered a papercut?

I've linked this report to the upstream report and am marking it as triaged
since the triaging work has been done.
Maybe it would be good to fix this in Ubuntu already for Lucid to provide a
consistent user interface, regardless of what upstream is doing since there
hasn't been responded to the
