This does indeed correct the problem. I apologize for the duplicate. I
should note that this seems to be i915 specific, since that is the
videocard in my laptop. This bug never occured at all on my desktop
which uses a Nvidia GeForce4 440 MX.

renaming /usr/share/totem/totem_logo.png to
/usr/share/totem/totem_logo.png.old takes care of the error you are
