Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because according to Richard
comments the bug has been fixed in Pidgin 2.0.0 version which is already
available in Ubuntu Gutsy, thanks for your report.

it exists.

At least Gaim could set the default directory for choosing an avatar to
/usr/share/pixmaps/faces/. Gnome's about dialog defaults to this
directory when choosing an avatar.

While it should be possible, it is not the sort of thing we react
strongly in favor of upstream. We value our independance from gnome.
If this icon can be pulled without linking against gnome (as the proxy
settings or the browser stuff can be) then it is possible we would
accept it in that form.
