I have the missing about box on an xubuntu edgy amd64. I also have a
xubuntu edgy x86 install on another box that does not have the problem.
Running gnumeric from the command line causes no output on either box
when clicking help -> about.

Changing status to unconfirmed because we still need confirmation that
the bug has been resolved for LTS Dapper AMD64, although it has been
confirmed as resolved on Edgy and Feisty.

feel that this is still an issue, I urge you to reopen this report.
Thanks

The about box works for me (but on a i386 architecture).
If you run gnumerics from the command line, then try to select the about
menu option, do you get any error that could explain your problem?
(for reference, when I do that, I get a series of "x_order_2: colinear!"
warnings in my xterm)
