As a sidenote, I've been able to get around this by killing the gnome-
screensaver application from a command line in another terminal. However
gnome-keyring-daemon seems to be using nearly 100% CPU power. Trying to
open the "Passwords and Encryption Keys" dialog (after bypassing the
