backport that changing is not an easy option, it's basically a rewrital
of part of the code. It would require new libsoup and fixing many
.desktop from applications to provide the informations required by the
new version

the LTS would benefit from such a feature. as it's a 3/5-year support
system, and (I would imagine) more people will be using Dapper rather
than Edgy (because it has edges), developers would be getting more
feedback if Dapper's bug buddy is fixed.

xmlrpc replaces the mailing so that bug doesn't apply to the current
version, it can be marked as fixed

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm tempted to mark the bug as 'Fix
Released'. The version in Edgy uses an XMLRPC interface, which makes
mailing unnecessary. Sébastien?
